What Is STLYM?

We are a team of high school musicians who believe in the transformative power of music education.

St. Louis Youth Music was created to provide free music education to children in our community. Through opportunities such as lessons, rehearsals, and performances, we strive to foster personal growth and artistic expression for our students.

Our Board

Eric Fan – President

Eric Fan is the principal euphonium player in his school’s symphonic and jazz band. He is also the principal player of the St. Louis All-Suburban Band and a member of the Missouri All-State Band. Outside of music, you can catch him camping, devouring mangoes, and competitively debating at tournaments ranging from the local to national level.

Naman Kansal – Vice President

Naman Kansal plays the trumpet in his school’s symphonic and jazz band and is a member of the St. Louis All-Suburban Band and JazzU. He has also been nominated for the Missouri Ambassadors of Music All-State Band. In his free time, Naman enjoys thrifting for new styles, volunteering at local food shelters, and beating opponents in tennis.

Matteo Seifarth – Vice President

In school, Matteo Seifarth plays the clarinet in the school’s symphonic band and chamber group. Besides his involvement in the band, he manages his own lawn-mowing company, dominates as a multi-sport varsity athlete in both swimming and tennis, and samples Swiss chocolates.

Katherine Nguyen – Head of Orchestra
Katherine Nguyen is a violinist and pianist at her school, a member of the St. Louis Symphony, and performs with a competition quartet through the Webster Community Music School Preparatory Program. She also manages Clayton’s Tri-M and Buskers Club. Outside of music, she enjoys reading, baking, and going out for boba.
